McComb School District Public Relations director Named President of the Mississippi School Public Relations Association

 McComb School District Public Relations Director, Monique Gilmore has been named the president of the Mississippi School Public Relations Association.  She will serve for the 2009 – 2010 school year.  

Gilmore is a native of Cincinnati, OH and a 15 year Army Veteran.  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree and has been employed with the McComb School District for 7 years.  She is the former director of the McComb School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program which earned national recognition for collaborations with community partners.

Gilmore is a member of the 24th Street Church of Christ; she is active in her community—serving on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center and United Givers of Southwest Mississippi.  She is the past PTA president for Otken Elementary and has served on the Board of Directors for Pike County Habitat for Humanity.  She is married to Greg Gilmore; they have two grown daughters and three grandsons.

The Mississippi School Public Relations Association (MSPRA) is a professional, non-profit organization that is devoted to building support for education through responsible public relations. Affiliated with the National School Public Relations Association, MSPRA provides professional development and other services in an effort to accomplish the following goal: To  build public support for the best educational opportunities and achievement for all students, and promote better public understanding of the objectives, accomplishments and needs of education in a diverse society.
