On Tuesday, the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church was immersed in a sea of white apparel during Women’s Night of their Mending Hearts Ministries’ Pulling Down Strongholds 2010 Conference. The guest speaker was Stellar and Grammy Award winning recording artist, Dr. Dorinda Clark Cole of the legendary gospel group, The Clark Sisters.
When speaking about Tuesday night’s service, Vonita Womack of Chicago, IL stated, “[The service] was very dynamic, very intense. I grew spiritually as a result of the Dr. Dorinda’s message.”
Overseer Oliver Smith, pastor of Pine Grove M.B. Church emphasized that the conference was designed to be “not just a concert but much more.” By Tuesday, he was confident that the conference had achieved its goal for the nights that had past and looked forward to the remaining nights.
“Forget yourself for others and others will never forget you.” Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12
Has anybody ever given you something you didn’t expect to receive? An un-birthday present or an ‘I saw this and thought of you kind of thingy? It doesn’t have to be a lot or even cost much. Just knowing somebody’s thinking about you gives you the warm fuzzies. It feels pretty good, doesn’t it? I had forgotten how much pleasure that could bring….until I gave a gift like that to someone.
“I don’t have to attend every argument I’m invited to.”
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Romans 12:18
Have you ever tried to argue with yourself? Feels pretty stupid, right? No matter how loud you get, how adamant you are at getting your point over, or how red your ears get. If you’re not getting feedback, the argument kind of losses its oomph. There’s something innate in us that causes us to want to defend, with fervor, our point of view.
Nevertheless, there are times when more can be said by our silence. After stating your views and noticing the other party is upset, it may be better to drop the matter. Talking about an attention getter! Your decision not to argue will really get noticed.

“The recipe for perpetual ignorance is to be satisfied with your own opinion.” A wise man will hear, and will increase in learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsel. Proverbs 1:5
There is a certain little high we get when we’re right about something. Being the one with the right answer gives us a feeling of pride, worth and value. We get a charge from being the one people come to for guidance. That’s human nature. We all need to feel necessary.
